Year 10 Product and Manufacturing

Course selection will be active from the 14th August 2020.

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: R. Pedersen

Students will complete two projects during the course. The first project is a skills based project, teaching a range of new skills which will be applied to an individual take home product. Past projects have included, repeat printed reversible bucket hats, layered felt broaches/ patches, ceramic pendants, printed produce bags.

This is followed by the second project, implementing some of these new skills on a student centered research, design and manufacture project. Students will work individually or in teams, and will design and develop a product to suit a New Zealand designer gift store. Students will explore sustainable options during the design process while developing a creative and innovative design solution.

Students will interact with stakeholders and suppliers to develop and refine their product(s). Students will develop a business plan and budget, although the focus of this course is on the product design and production process. This course is ideal for students who are passionate about quality products, teamwork and creative problem solving.
