Year 11 Mathematics with Statistics and Probability

Mathematics with Statistics is for students who enjoy finding statistical outcomes and investigating the world of Probability. Increasingly many areas require employees to be statistically literate. In a world where the news is filled with Data there is a strong need to be mindful consumers of information. Students will learn about Multivariate Data, Bivariate Data and Probability. Students will be offered 7 credits.
This course can be combined with either Mathemetics with Algebraic thinking (MAT) or Mathematics with Geometry and Measurement (MATG) for students who wish to study Mathematics with Statistics in Year 12. Students who wish to study Mathematics with Calculus in Year 12 should combine this cousre with Mathematics with Algebraic Thinking (MAT). PLEASE NOTE: Combining this course with Elements of Mathematics is not recommend as they contain some of the same content . Check with your Mathematics Teacher or a Careers Advisor for advice if you want to see if this course will suit your needs for a particular future pathway.
NCEA Levels 1-3 and UE require 10 Numeracy credits. We strongly recommended you take 2 semesters of Mathematics in Year 11 so you can achieve this.
