Year 11 Product and Design - 3D Digital Manufacturing

Course selection will be active in August.

Course Description

Students will learn how to use a range of programmes that will aid in the design of a product that can be mass produced. The course will be both computer based and hands on, with the emphasis on the end product being a high quality finished item that has the potential to be mass produced.

  • Creativity - Students create innovative design ideas/solutions, exploring creative existing solutions to enhance their own outcomes.
  • Use the design process to work through a design brief.

  • Critical thinking skills, being able to analyze, reason, solve problems, plan, organize, and make sound decisions in their work.
  • Use Digital Technologies in the design & manufacturing of a solution - illustrator, Vcarve, sketchup and Tinkercad.
  • Use workshop technologies in the design & manufacturing of a solution.
  • Develop competencies in workshop and machine safety. 


  • Students will gain an understanding of angles, tolerances, measurement, grouping, wastage, costing, machine setup, xyz axis, scale, ergonomics, workshop safety, presentation skills.

  • Use time management strategies to ensure students can manage resources, support and materials.

Resources Required

All students need: pens, pencils, ruler, eraser, A4 Visual Diary. Final product :$40.00 (optional)
