Course Description

This course provides students with the opportunity to begin a journey into the world of Service industries and Community Care.
Students will cover the areas of retail, customer service, beauty, hospitality, tourism and community social work and aged care. There will be theory and and practical components delivered at school and off site. Each term will have a week of completing industry based courses. There will also be the opportunity to complete a workplace component to support the learning done. TheInitial training in this course will cover the First Aid and Health and Safety requirements of these industries. The standards covered and the credits that can be earned are listed below, but are indicative only. The final make up of the course will be dependent on the interests and needs of the students.
Students who graduate this course will have skills to take them into a range of employment opportunities or further training opportunities. These are first steps to make a real difference in the lives of others and help the vulnerable in our community
They will be shop ready with a background in the retail sector and customer service.
They will be cafe ready with barista and table service experience.
They will aware of the role of a support worker in a health or wellbeing setting and interacting with people to provide support in a health or wellbeing setting
They will know how to display products and describe key concepts for a beauty salon.
They will be informed of work roles in the tourism and aviation industries.
If you choose to apply for this course, it covers three timetable lines and you will still need to select three additional subjects from those offered at Year 12. However, these may be subject to timetable constraints.
