Content
Art History students will develop an understanding of the formal elements of artworks and the context within which they were produced. Students develop unique perspectives on Traditional and Contemporary Art and the meanings these communicate about the past and present.
This course will develop students’ knowledge of art, enhance their research skills and give them the ability to analyse and communicate a range of responses. Students learn by debating, blogging, curating, art making, and formal writing.
These skills will enhance the students’ learning through to NCEA Level 3 Art History. Students will develop an understanding of how to view artworks in context and work collaboratively within an art environment.
Skills Learnt:
Introduction to understanding and communicating ideas found in artworks.
Understanding artists' artworks in context.
Personal response to artworks.
Debate and analysis skills
Developed art terminology
