Course Description

The skills learned through Dance are valuable in any career that requires leadership, team work, communication skills, creativity, taking risks and stepping out of your comfort zone. These are all skills that are very sought after in any work place today.
Content:
• Students will extend their dance skills. They will prepare, rehearse and perform in a range of dance works. This includes a theatre dance work and a repertoire of dance.
• Students will choreograph an original solo dance, and also a section of dance for a group (in collaboration with others).
• Students will analyse and evaluate their own and others' dance performances, including those of well known dance companies.
• Students will research social and cultural influences on various forms of dance.
Skills:
Choreography, performance, evaluation, movement skills and technique, rhythmic awareness, appreciation of dance, presentation, problem solving, analysis of form and style in movement, creativity and imagination, confidence in working relationships with others.

Participation in a Year 11 Dance course or by audition.
