This course will suit students who enjoy communicating, are willing to try new sounds and phrases and like to use technology to help their language learning journey.
Students will be introduced to Spanish language and culture and will learn to communicate about themselves and their families using games, songs, video clips, cultural studies, group tasks and role plays.
They will learn pronunciation skills and a range of useful expressions. They will become able to carry out a variety of short conversations about matters such as their school subjects, eating out, their favourite Spanish music etc. They will also begin to develop their Spanish reading and writing skills. They will begin to recognise how the language is organised and the patterns it contains.
At the end of this course, students will be ready to progress to the Year 11 Spanish pathway to NCEA course.
