This course will develop students' ability to use a wide range of alternative art-making media. This course is for students who wish to extend from the Illustration Course into a wide range of alternative techniques. The focus for students will be on developing an understanding of alternative art making techniques. This course is suited for students who have a preference for producing abstract rather than figurative outcomes.
Students will develop work around the theme:
"He aha taku e kite ai - What I can see"
Students may complete their own or a group inquiry around the use of Alternative Media.
Students will make works using the following techniques: Woodblock, Etching, Screen-Printing, Stencilling, Spray Paint, Collage, Large Scale, Collaborative, 3-Dimensional Construction.
Students will use artist models to inform the development of their art-making skills over the 6 month course.
This course is designed for students who are looking at further study in Visual Art, Photography and Design fields.
