Teacher in Charge:
This course is designed for dancers who love dance, but may not have had much or any, dance experience outside of school. If your confidence is still developing, you will have opportunities to grow and perform in ways that best meet your needs.
The skills learned are valuable in any career that requires leadership, team work, communication, creativity, taking risks and stepping out of your comfort zone. These are all skills that are very sought after in any work place today.
• Students will extend their dance skills. They will prepare, rehearse and perform in a range of dance works. This includes a theatre dance work and a repertoire of dance.
• Students will choreograph an original solo dance, and also a section of dance for a group (in collaboration with others).
• Students will analyse and evaluate their own and others' dance performances, including those of well known dance companies.
• Students will research social and cultural influences on various forms of dance.
Choreography, performance, evaluation, movement skills and technique, rhythmic awareness, appreciation of dance, presentation, problem solving, analysis of form and style in movement, creativity and imagination, confidence in working relationships with others.
