Course Description

Content:
This course ties together the two overall themes of ecology and evolution. It includes the study of the adaptive value of plant and animal behaviours in the natural habitat, which involves a trip to the Auckland Zoo. This is followed by a study of the evolution of plants and animals and human evolution in the context of adaptation to the ecosystem. Other topics include investigating how the body maintains a stable environment and how to respond to socio-scientific issues.

Skills:
• Problem solving skills
• Literacy skills
• General research skills
• Writing skills
• Independent thinking skills
