Students will perform an acting role in a scripted production. The class as a whole will participate in the process of selecting the script or scripts for production by reading scenes from a range of plays.
Students will research the world of the play or plays selected then collaborate with each other and the teacher through a focused rehearsal process. This will also involve creating a set, gathering props and costumes, designing and applying make-up in readiness for a short season of performances to a public audience.
NOTE:.
Performances, together with the written theory required, will be assessed individually, against the Level 2 standard AS 91218 Perform a substantial acting role in a scripted production.

Students taking senior drama courses will be on a potential pathway to acceptance into a range of tertiary drama and related industry institutions such as Toi Whakaari, The New Zealand Drama School, Whitireia, NASDA, and Unitec. Drama will suit students interested in careers in theatre, television and film industries, Education and Performing Arts management.
