Course Description

This Science course is designed to facilitate the following skills:
• understand that scientific knowledge can be applied to solve problems;
• use reflection and analysis to prepare a plan;
• collect, process and interpret data to communicate conclusions;
• analyse information to find patterns and draw conclusions
• understand that scientific evidence informs decisions that impact on people and the environment.


This course has two separate components.
The first looking at local marine reserves. This would happen in conjunction with Experience Marine Reserves (EMR) and students would have the opportunity to experience Marine Conservation in action by participating in marine monitoring.
The second component integrates science inquiry and scientific reporting in the context of forensic science. Using a range of activities, such as practical tests; modelling and simulations; qualitative and/or quantitative analysis of data; interpreting scientific and/or media texts and using reasoning to construct scientific arguments.
