Course Description

Students will learn to visually communicate product design ideas through 2D and 3D drawings, prototyping ideas and following the design process through to a final presentation.

Students will learn by trial and error, making models and sketching to test and trial new ideas. They will look at existing products and design alternative solutions to re-purpose or remake them.

Students who enjoyed watching Design Junkies, constructing, tinkering and turning their design ideas into real, innovative products. If you find yourself looking at something and imagining a new life for it, this course will suit you!

Contributions and Equipment

All students need: pens, pencils, ruler, eraser, glue stick, highlighters, coloured pencils, scissors for all classes

Specific requirements for this class are:
Take home component: $40.00 (optional)
Visual Diary - optional (This only needs to be purchased once - Students taking multiple art and/or technology subjects may re use this over the course of the year)
Students also have the option to purchase more specialised materials, equipment or resources for their individual projects (e.g: developing screens for printing vs hand cut, pine vs rimu) they will need to be mindful of this when working through the design process.
