Who was Hitler the man? What did he believe? Is he solely to blame for world war, concentration camps and the Holocaust? Was he mad or was there a logic to his actions? This course aims to answer these questions and discover NZ's role in World War Two.
Students will explore this topic through film, documentaries and a range of internet and book based texts.
This topic is well resourced and students will be encouraged to select their own areas of interest. Areas students might like to investigate could be: an individual impacted by war (eg Anne Frank), their own family history, the plight of the Jews, a specific war campaign, the Māori Battalion, Hiroshima and the start of the nuclear age, a film study, a novel, war poetry, war art, propaganda, post-war migration (eg to NZ).
