Students will learn how to use a range of programmes that will aid in the design of a product that can be mass produced. The course will be both computer based and hands on, with the emphasis being on the end product being a high quality finished item that has the potential to be mass produced.
Students will be taught how to use illustrator and Vcarve. These two programmes will be the main digital drawing tools. Other programmes that will be on offer to the students will be Google Sketchup and Tinkercad .
The machines that the students will be taught to set up and run will be the CNC, 3d printer and laser cutter. As well, the students will be taught various other machines in the workshop.
Students will gain an understanding of angles, tolerances, measurement, grouping, wastage, costing, machine setup, xyz axsis, scale, ergonomics, workshop safety, presentation skills.
