This course will continue to develop students' knowledge range of contemporary Māori art-making techniques. These may include the use of pattern, repetition, story-telling and the use of symbols with meaning. Students will use a range of media to re-create and personalise these: Pencil, indian ink, water-colour and acrylic paint.
They will then look at a range of contemporary Māori artists as well as art making techniques. Students will continue to complete a significant personalised work that integrates a range of alternative art-making techniques and pushes students away from the 2-Dimensional page and into a 3-Dimensional construction: Stencils, screen-printing, woodblock printing and carving, weaving, etc.
This course is for students who like to learn through making.
