Content:
This course will be co-constructed at the beginning of the year with student’s interests, future career and learning needs, and level of production skills in mind. Students will have the choice of two internal assignments (close reading media texts for different meanings or script/feature writing) along with the two interlocked production assignments. In the past, students have made short film documentaries that meet a brief, made a radio documentary or produced their own short 3 Act film. There will be one external examination. This may involve the study of a media industry and will have a careers focus or you may explore the interrelationship between a film genre and a particular society in a defined time era. Students have the option to integrate three of their internal assessments eg: to write a film screenplay that they will use for their two production assessments.
Skills:
• Students will develop their use of web-based tools, skills in using audio and editing software programmes, and camera etc equipment.
• Students' critical thinking skills will be developed as ideas are explored, analysed and evaluated in a range of media texts.
