1CORE is a six month course designed to give students the ability to Communicate, be Open,minded, able to Relate to others and Engage in everyday learning. Number is used in everyday situations from shopping, budgeting and calculating interest and exchange rates around the world. Measurement is used widely everyday from within the kitchen to as far as the builders yard. Algebra helps students think logically and solve real life problems.

This course should be combined with, 1PASS or 1SASI to continue doing Level 2 and Level 3 Mathematics which can lead to any of the following: University (some courses), Apprenticeships, Polytechnics or even the world of work. (Always seek advice from your Mathematics Teacher or a Careers Advisor for a particular chosen profession).

As NCEA Levels 1-3 and UE require 10 Numeracy credits we strongly recommended you take 2 semesters in Mathematics at Year 11 so you can achieve this. It will be much more difficult to achieve in Year 12 as Year 12 is at a higher Level and already is a very demanding course.
