What students will learn:
• How earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, cyclones and floods occur plus how people cope and survive.
Possible contexts: Hawaii, Bali, Pacific Islands, NZ or any relevant current case study.
• Why there are conflicting viewpoints over what is happening in the world around us.
Possible contexts: Save the Beaches, Dirty Dairying, Ageing Population.
How students will learn:
• Through critical thinking, collaboration, communication, inquiry, fieldwork
What students will enjoy:
• Studying through real life contexts, learning about people in extreme situations.
• Learning outside the classroom through an optional one day trip to Rangitoto Island.
