Information for Senior Students
GUIDELINES FOR YEAR 11
All Year 11 students must have 12 lines in their timetable. Many courses are 6 months long and will count as 1 line. Where a course runs for a full year, it will count as 2 lines. In case you are unable to do a course, you can also choose 2 alternatives.
Every student must do a course in English, Maths and Science (students need to talk to their teachers in these subjects for guidance on the best courses for them).
Approximately 20 credits in Level One NCEA will be available. These will come primarily from English and Mathematics and focus on the required literacy and numeracy credits.

In the course selection tool, the credits available in each course are visible as are the vocational pathways.
GUIDELINES FOR YEAR 12
All Year 12 students must select six subjects. Every student will include a course in English or Māori. Both subjects may be studied.
Students may choose a multi-level course by including subjects from Year 10 or Year 11 in their choice of six subjects.
GUIDELINES FOR YEAR 13
All students in Year 13 must take a full course of five subjects.
Students may take a multilevel course – which can include subjects from any level. This must be fully discussed with the Careers Advisors.
It is important that students check out any tertiary course requirements very carefully and ensure their course of study meets the requirements for the qualification they are aiming to enter. Courses that are university approved are shown in the relevant Year 13 subjects. If in doubt about your course - CHECK.
