Year 9 Health Education

The Year 9 Health Education Programme is about introducing students to the underlying concepts of the Health and Physical Education curriculum. This Health Education Programme is planned around key issues that our students at WGHS are exposed to, as well as the importance of Hauora (total wellbeing).
Topics are as follows;
Term 1: Personal Identity and Safety (Hauora / Wellbeing throughout)
Term 2: Alcohol, Tobacco, Vaping and Cannabis: Understand the effects Alcohol and other Drugs(AoD) has on wellbeing, peer pressure, decision making and strategies to address AoD issues.
Term 3: Sexuality Education: Explore pubertal changes, consent, basic contraceptives, healthy relationships and decision making.
Term 4: Body Image and an Inquiry Project.
All Year 9 students will study Health Education.
Contributions and Equipment
All students need: pens, pencils, ruler, eraser, glue stick, highlighters, coloured pencils, scissors for all classes.
