Course Description

This course is student driven, hands on learning where students have an exciting opportunity to use their talents and abilities to plan and carry out a business with a focus on improving community wellbeing.  They will use a mix of critical and creative thinking as they generate  ideas, develop solutions to consumer or societal problems and manage their resources.

  • Internal factors that affect business success such as leadership, organisational structure, production methods and the role of corporate social responsibility.

  • The different ways people are motivated and how these motivation theories are applied in a workplace.

There is an expectation that students will contribute to the capital of their own business. This will be through individual contribution, fund raising or selling supporters’ shares. The objective is that the company earns enough money to pay back this investment, contribute to community wellbeing plus return a profit to each student.
