Year 12 Enterprise Business

Content: This course is student driven, hands on learning. Students have an exciting opportunity to use their talents and abilities and apply their learning from other areas in a real world setting.
As part of their own Enterprise Company, students will:
• Develop a business plan
• Operate a student business
• Report on their business
• Manage, plan, appoint staff
• Generate a business idea and make it happen
• Undertake market research
• Market their product/service
• Raise finance and monitor expenses
• Learn about motivation
• Evaluate their own performance
• Learn through experience
They will interact with the business community and mentors.
Students will also study motivational theory and how the theories are implemented in the workplace.
Skills: Creative and critical thinking, seeing and assessing opportunities, using initiative, taking the lead, working in a team, resolving conflict in a constructive manner, planning use of time, meeting deadlines, writing a targeted CV, carrying through with responsibilities, communicating with other people visually, orally, and in writing, holding meetings, managing information, desktop publishing, practical production skills, market research skills, problem solving skills, negotiation, calculating costs and prices, banking, basic cash book management, managing risk.
Students develop leadership and presentation skills and gain a sense of achievement, pride and confidence.

Contributions and Equipment
There is an expectation that students will contribute to the capital of their own business. This will be through individual contribution, fund raising or selling supporters’ shares. The objective is that the company earns enough money to pay back this investment, contribute to community wellbeing plus return a profit to each student.

BYOD is very useful as we will be using Google classroom and resources are uploaded to the Google team drive. If a student does not have access to a Device we will endeavour to provide some access during class when necessary.
