Students will respond to the environment of Whangārei Heads. With the focus on an accessible subject matter within their own world, students will be able to readily play with media and develop skills when using a variety of different art-making techniques. Students will explore a sub-theme relating to either Surf Culture / Cultural Significance / Coastal Environment / Below the Waves. Students will develop, and critically reflect on successful media and compositions, think creatively and develop their ideas, with an understanding of contemporary art practice.

Whatungarongaro te tangata toitu te whenua. As man disappears from sight, the land remains. Students will investigate and create visual outcomes in response to the whenua surrounding Whangārei and our local histories. |
