Year 11

In Year 11:

Whangārei Girls' High School requires every student to have their own chromebook or laptop. (No cellphones are to be used during learning times). If there is difficulty providing a device for your student please talk to your student's Dean or any member of the Senior Leadership Team.

All Year 11 students must have a full year English and a full year Mathematics course and up to eight other courses, in their timetable. Most courses are semesterised and run for two terms each. A few courses run for a full year. (All of these courses will lead into Level 2 and 3 courses.)

It is highly recommended that students select a broad range of courses, which includes at least one Science course. 

Approximately 50-70 credits in Level One NCEA will be available to each student. English and Mathematics courses will offer achievement standards and each other course will offer an NCEA standard. This will prepare our students for Level 2 NCEA and give them the opportunity to gain NCEA level 1 at achieved, merit or excellence level in Year 11.
