Year 11 Product and Design - Back to Basics

Course Description

The students will design unique projects while using the design process. They will learn how to use a wide range of tools and machines, both traditional and modern and develop an understanding of materials, construction methods, machine use, safety and computer programmes.

  • Use digital technologies in the design & manufacturing of a solution - illustrator, Vcarve, sketchup...
  • Use workshop technologies in the design & manufacturing of a solution
  • Develop competencies in workshop and machine safety.

  • Students will gain an understanding of angles, tolerances, measurement, grouping, wastage, costing, machine setup, xyz axis, scale, ergonomics, workshop safety, presentation skills.

  • Use time management strategies to ensure students can manage resources, support and materials.
