Teacher in Charge: N. Howes
Meth, bullying, diabetes, sexuality, binge drinking - do any of these issues concern YOU?
This course will be co-constructed to examine prevalent NZ health issues of interest to the class. Some ideas may include (but are not limited to) alcohol and drug use, gender and sexuality issues, food and nutrition concerns and other related problems. Students will examine influences on these issues, the consequences or implications on well-being and discover strategies that could be implemented to minimise harm.
Students who like research, self-directed learning, exploring their own and others' views and opinions would enjoy this course.
This course will be a solid foundation to understanding the underlying concepts of Health Education in future years.
