Year 9 Te Ao Haka (THIS COURSE IS NOW FULL FOR 2024, PLEASE CHOOSE ANOTHER COURSE)

Course Description

9 Te Ao Haka is a culturally responsive art form, providing opportunities for all ākonga to engage in the Māori language, culture and heritage through song and dance. In Year 9, students will learn the iwi anthems of Whangārei. Iwi anthems are the waiata and haka we love to perform as people of Whangārei. They reveal who we are as a tribe, where we’re from, and what is important to us. This course is suitable for all students, Māori and non-Māori who love to sing, dance, perform and want to learn more about the Māori culture.
