Year 9

In Year 9:

Whangārei Girls' High School requires every student to have their own chromebook or laptop. (No cellphones are to be used during learning times). If there is difficulty providing a device for your student please talk to your student's Dean or any member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Year 9 students (2025) do not need to login to School Point to select core programmes or options. They will enter their selections on the enrolment form. 

All Year 9 students follow a programme that includes English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education and Health. These can be studied through an integrated or a subject specific core programme. This choice will need to be made by enrolment time.

All students also choose up to eight option subjects. Most of these subjects are studied for one term. Students are strongly encouraged to include a broad range of areas in their choices.
