Year 9 Arabic Passport

Course Description

Year 9 Arabic Passport is a one term option that gives students a taste of the Arabic language by offering pronunciation skills, useful phrases, writing their names in Arabic and cultural insights. Students will use technology and information to help their communication and begin to develop cross-cultural awareness. They will work in pairs or small groups to carry out 2 short conversations in which they introduce themselves.

  • Writing and pronouncing the 28 arabic letters (the alphapets).

  • Reading/writing simple words in Arabic.
  • Collaboration/Teamwork - e.g. working with a classmate to prepare a conversation.
  • Greetings in Arabic.
  • Technology use skills - using digital tools to help improving  pronunciation and learning.
  • Basic expressions such as please, thank you.

  • Numbers, days of the week, months of the year and dates.

  • Arabian culture and customs.

  • Asking about places such as restaurants, airport and bus station.

  • Famous places in Jordan, Dubai and Eygpt and Middle eastern main cities.
