Level 2 Product and Design

Course Description

Ākonga will work through the design process to design and manufacture a bespoke furniture outcome. Ākonga will explore existing design solutions, designers, and construction methods throughout the year.

  • Use Digital Technologies in the design & manufacturing of a solution - CNC and laser.
  • Use workshop technologies in the design & manufacturing of a solution.
  • Research of existing solutions and suitable materials to make informed decisions.


  • Develop competencies in workshop and machine safety.

  • Use time management strategies to ensure ākonga can manage resources, support, and materials.


Resources Required

1 A3 Visual Diary, Graphic Pens, Safety Glasses & Ear Protection. The final product - $200.00 optional
Akonga also has the option to purchase more specialised materials, equipment, or resources for their individual projects.

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.

This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
