Year 12 Health Science

This course is designed with the students' wants/needs in mind. It is a full year course.
This is a course for students wanting to progress with a career in the health sector, whether it is to become a nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist or health and nutrition specialist etc
It will provide an opportunity to learn about human anatomy and physiology. It is a ‘learning’ course that will create great foundation knowledge.
The course will not have any set Achievement Standards BUT it will provide a wealth of knowledge for those who want to do further study and work in this area. The content is typical of many first year tertiary courses.
The course will cover all major body systems at a microscopic and gross (what you can see) level.
The learning areas we will cover are:
- First Aid Skills
- The basic structure, function and integration of the following body systems:
- Cells, tissues and organisational anatomy
- The musculoskeletal system
- The cardiovascular and respiratory systems
- The nervous system
- The Integumentary system
- The lymphatic system
- The endocrine system
- The urinary and reproductive systems
You will be able to get the credits needed in your other 5 subjects and use this course to learn what you're passionate about. Come and be fascinated!
